The mission of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at the University of Maryland School of Medicine at University of Maryland, Baltimore is to provide excellence in clinical care of patients with diabetes and other endocrine disorders, to find cures and new treatments for these diseases through cutting edge research, and to educate and train present and future health care providers and medical researchers.
The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition has established a Center of Excellence, the UM Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology, to address the demand of clinical services for the West Baltimore community and throughout the State of Maryland.
The UM Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology, located at the UMMS Midtown Campus in Baltimore, is a leading clinical and research hub focused on diagnosing, managing, and preventing both diabetes and endocrine disorders. With a multidisciplinary team of specialists—including endocrinologists, diabetes educators, nutritionists, social workers, and more—the Center provides comprehensive care in one location, empowering patients and families to live healthier lives.
Full-spectrum diabetes care — including prevention programs for pre-diabetes, ongoing management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, patient education, and support groups.
Comprehensive endocrine services — covering thyroid diseases, pituitary/adrenal disorders, metabolic bone disease (such as osteoporosis), weight-management, and related conditions.
Multidisciplinary programs — that integrate nutrition counseling, behavior-change support, diagnostics, endocrinology, and research trials.
